Julia Haralambeva

Julia Haralambeva

Julia Haralambeva is a multidisciplinary artist based in Eora/Sydney. Her current practice investigates the instability of memory through re-imagining found photographic archives within print-media. By using painterly and experimental techniques she explores how recollections transform over time. Through re-interpreting and re-constructing these narratives, Julia's hands-on approach examines how marks, traces and echos become the lingering forms of absence, allowing her to create active scenes that challenge the constructed nature of time and place within fixed photographs. Her series of works explore how layering, erasure and unpredictability evoke tension between the past and present, producing works that embody the continuous shifting nature of memory.
