The National Art School acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the traditional owners on whose lands, water and skies we meet and share.

Cade Aslaugh

Cade Aslaugh (b.2002) lives and works on Gadigal land, Sydney. His practice is based on reconstructing found objects and industrial detritus through processes such as welding, forging and woodworking. Aslaugh observes the interaction between queerness, masculinity and surrounding cultural identities, as well as how politics interact with said identities and how capitalism functions as a cultural indicator. His practice further extends into sound-works, performance and writing. In his recent sculptural work, Aslaugh’s pieces contain recurring amalgamations of waste material; melted copper wire, keys, trophies, tools and glue-laminated timber offcuts.
