Mel Jhey
Mel Jhey is a transdisciplinary artist living and making on unceded Gadigal lands. Her practice harnesses the agency of materials to explore the relationship between the unconscious mind, the body and emotions. She completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at Newcastle Art School (2022) and is graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Ceramics (2025). Her work has been a finalist in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award (2023), the Colin Holden Print Commission (2023) and she won Highly Commended in Ceramics in the Gosford Art Prize (2023). Jhey has exhibited in numerous group shows since 2022 in Newcastle, Melbourne and Sydney and is a ceramics tutor at Waverley Woollahra Art School. Her work is held in prominent private art collections in Australia.
