Bianca Meli
Bianca Meli (b. 2003) is a Sydney-based artist who works primarily with oil paints to create dreamlike compositions based on her own memories, dreams and poetry. She views these works as part of a personal mythology, seeing the importance of storytelling and fantasy as an integral part of our humanity. As somebody who has always turned to poetry and art for understanding, she is concerned with how metaphor and symbols function as tools to define an experience by alluding to it, circling around its perimeter without stating it directly. Her self-portraits inhabit strange worlds full of fragmented images, animal motifs and mysterious glowing lights, searching for truths which exist beyond reason.
