Frank Stackpool

(b. 2001, Sydney / Gadigal land) Frank Stackpool is a Northern Beaches–based multidisciplinary artist working between image-based and spatial practices. Humour is his way of looking closely, noticing the subtle performances embedded in objects, images and people. His research then shifts to the staging of authenticity in a society that is influenced by algorithmic aesthetics. Through large-scale charcoal works and constructed environments that study the visual logic of the everyday, he explores what he calls meta-materialism — a reflexive discourse where the physical work and its performed image fold into one another. Stackpool also contributes critically to Gems & Jams, an artist-led exhibition series merging jewellery, art and music within Sydney’s emerging creative scene.
