Lexi Stephenson
Alexandra Anne Stephenson (b. 2004) is an emerging multidisciplinary artist based on the Dharug land of the Blue Mountains. Her practice centres storytelling, medieval folklore, kitsch aesthetics, and navigating the collective feminine consciousness within a patriarchal world. She examines how femininity is shaped (and often distorted) by narrowly defined, sexualised narratives rooted in the male gaze. Using story as catalyst to separate identity from the tales imposed upon it, Alexandra works to illuminate the subtle violences that collapse complex womanhood into object and desire.
